Cari Sänger – van de Griend

Prof. Dr. Cari E. Sänger – van de Griend is founder and scientific consultant at Kantisto in The Netherlands and she is associate professor at the Division of Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy at Uppsala Universitet in Sweden.

In her daily work, Cari supports industry and institutes in the field of pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD), and in the Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) technologies. The handouts of her yearly “Advanced CE method development, validation, and troubleshooting course” are considered the CE bible for method development.

Cari received her MSc from Universiteit Leiden and her PhD and habilitation from Uppsala Universitet. She previously worked for TNO (the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research), Astra Pain Control, AstraZeneca, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, and Abbott Healthcare Products. In her spare time, Cari is Associate Professor Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Uppsala Universitet, and lectures and supervises currently in Sweden, Germany, Poland, and Switzerland. She is chair of the EDQM CE working party and member of the EDQM AQbD working party, Associate Director at CASSS, and on the CASSS organizing committees of Analytical Technologies Europe and The Netherlands Area Biotech Discussion Group.

Cari won the prestigious CEPharm award 2015 for sustained and significant contribution to the practical application of Capillary Electrophoresis to the analysis of biotechnology and pharmaceutical products. Ewoud van Tricht

Dr. Ewoud van Tricht is the co-owner and CEO of Kantisto in the Netherlands. With over 18 years of experience in the (bio)pharmaceutical industry, Ewoud began his career at Solvay Pharmaceuticals (later Abbott) in 2006 after completing his vocational education in laboratory technology. Early on, he realized that a Bachelor's degree was essential to achieving his goal of becoming an analytical method developer. Determined to pursue this, Ewoud balanced full-time work with part-time studies, earning a Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD in Analytical Chemistry between 2006 and 2020, while working at Abbott Healthcare and Janssen Vaccines and Prevention.

Throughout his career, Ewoud has held various roles, including Head of Analytical Development (AD) and Quality Control (QC), gaining extensive experience in analytical development, validation, method transfer, and dossier writing. He has worked with small molecules, antibodies, proteins, viruses, virus-like particles, and natural killer cells at companies such as Solvay Pharmaceuticals (Abbott), Janssen Vaccines and Prevention, and Sanofi Cell Therapy Amsterdam.
In recent years, Ewoud has specialized in Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD), delivering courses and implementing AQbD strategies across various pharmaceutical organizations.

Ewoud has a keen interest in personal development, managing, and coaching individuals and teams. He derives satisfaction from restructuring and shaping teams to optimize performance, improve collaboration, and foster growth. Ewoud is driven by efficiency and the enhancement of business processes, continuously striving to improve the status quo to drive innovation and progress.
